Peer Reviewers
They know community health centres.
They learn about BHO and other centres.
They share their knowledge.
BHO is an accreditation process that depends on trained peer reviewers: CHC executive directors, managers, senior staff, and board members. One or two of these peer reviewers are matched with a team leader to constitute a review team.
Having peers is important to the BHO process as it ensures that teams are well-grounded in the realities of the sector, and means that learning is shared across the sector.
Peer reviewers bring their own experiences and knowledge to the review process, from their work in their own CHC or on its board of directors.
During a review, they learn what other centres are doing, how they respond to needs and communities, and they bring this new understanding back to their work and to their centre’s ongoing learning process. They also bring back useful information about BHO – how other centres prepare for BHO reviews and different ways of achieving the BHO requirements.
